The introductory chapter really emphasizes the importance of knowing our history. In Hosea 4:6 the scripture says we perish for the lack of knowledge. Knowing our history beyond slavery is essential to restoring Black dignity. Understandably, it is difficult to fully know our history when it is purposefully erased; nevertheless, 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to study to show ourselves approved. The more we know, the more we can teach, and restore Black dignity.
